Paris. The city of love, laughter, a va va voom. Whether you are taking a romantic getaway trip or you are having a quick weekend away – Paris has a lot to offer you. I have been to several times and there is one thing I always do once I have booked my ticket. Watch Parisian based or inspired movies. I have put a list of movies you should watch before visiting Paris. Here are 5 movies you should watch before visiting Paris:
AMELIE
Amelie is a about a young French girl who hardly has any contact with other people and as a young women she moves to central Paris. After reuniting the previous occupant of her apartment with a lost treasure, she begins a quest to fix other people’s lives. Follow Amelie as she races around Paris, trying to make many lives better. Watch for a feel good and funny movie.
PASSPORT TO PARIS
Who doesn’t love a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie?! Passport to Paris was by far one of my favourite of their movies. The girls travel to Paris to visit their grandfather, and in addition to getting up to mischief, they fall in love with two Parisian boys.
GOSSIP GIRL
X O X O. Gossip Girl is an American TV series set in the Upper East Side of New York. The series follows the lives of Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate, Dan and Little J aka Jenny. The drama, the love, the laughter and all the inbetweens. If you haven’t already watched it, I recommend a Netflix binge. Whenever I plan a trip to Paris always watch season 4 of Gossip Girl. It definitely is a must see for outfit and destination inspiration.
THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
The final movie on my list of movies you should watch before visiting Paris is The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Quasimodo was orphaned and lived in a bell tower his whole life with only the gargoyles as his friend. Then Esmeralda came along and showed him love and a friendship he had never experienced before – and it changed his life. One thing I love about this Disney movie is that it teaches kids to be kind to everyone, no matter how they look or if they are different to you. Make sure you take a trip to visit Notre Dame and see if you can spot Quasimodo or any of the gargoyles.
MADELINE
Mischievous little Madeline is an adventurous orphan growing up in a boarding school in Paris. The movie follows Madeline as she gets into trouble, fights for what she believes in and even gets kidnapped. The movie is based in Paris and shows you some of the beauty Paris has to offer. Its a movie for all the family to enjoy. I honestly pretty much know all the words to this movie, having watched it over and over again as a child. I would highly recommend Madeline to anyone and everyone!

As you can see, I love a happily ever after and I can be a bit of a hopeless romantic. I love taking trips to Paris and I hope you enjoy watching one or all of these movie. If you haven’t already, read my post ‘5 Things You Need Do in Paris‘. I would love to hear in the comments what you do before a trip to Paris or anywhere and if you’ve ever watched any of these movies.
Oh aren’t you a romantic! Passport to Paris will always bring the childhood mems! I actually haven’t watched 2 of these listed here, so I might just do that – even though I’m not going to Paris any time soon!
