Following our night in San Salvador, we had a night and a day in Managua, Nicaragua. Honestly, all the travelling by bus is quite exhausting so once we arrived we agreed to chill for a couple of hours and then search for food. We wanted to eat local food and came a really nice restaurant and asked the waiter to point out what was typical Nicaraguan food on the menu. We had an amazing steak with crispy plantain chips and rice with beans. It was mouth-watering. Just thinking about it is making me hungry.
We had a nice lay-in in the morning before checking out and chilling in hammocks for most of the day. We also went to the local large supermarket for lunch and found these extremely tasty donuts – I think they were better then Krispy Kreme’s to be honest. A couple more hours later and we were in a taxi to the airport to catch a plane to Costa Rica.
Nicaragua was not on our list of places to visit, however I definitely want to go back in a couple of years. Managua was a nice city (what we saw of it) and I would like to explore more of the country. Most people venture out of Managua when in Nicaragua and I would like to do that next time.
